A novel technique for the management of microform cleft lip

چکیده
At 1‐year and 9‐month post‐operative period, the patient had good bulk in her upper lip with an aesthetically pleasing result [Figure 4]. An advantage of this technique is that the deformity could be addressed in one sitting without the requirement of procedures such as derma‐fat grafting which requires a separate incision. To conclude, a primary vermilion V‐Y advancement along with a Millard’s rotation advancement can be used as a reliable technique in the management of microform clefts. Refined new technique for correction of the minor-form, microform cleft lip and minor-form bilateral cleft lip through the intraoral incision and long-term results.
To attain muscle continuity with a minimal scar in the treatment of the microform cleft lip, the current author previously introduced a new method using interdigitation of the orbicularis oris muscle to create a philtrum through an intraoral incision to avoid an external scar.1 A total of 12 patients with microform cleft lip were treated between August of 2001 and October of 2002. The follow-up...
متن کاملCorrection of Minor-Form and Microform Cleft Lip Using Modified Muscle Overlapping with a Minimal Skin Incision
BACKGROUND In treating minor-form or microform cleft lip, obtaining an optimal result is a challenge because of the visible scarring caused by traditional surgery. We present a refined method using muscle overlapping with a minimal skin incision in patients younger than 3 years, a group characterized by thin muscle. METHODS The surgical technique involves restoration of the notched vermillion...
متن کاملRepair of the Median Microform Cleft Lip Using Z-Plasty
A median cleft lip is a rare central midline deficiency of the upper lip. Multiple surgical techniques are described in the literature to address this defect, though there is little consensus on the preferred surgical technique. We describe an intra-oral approach for repair of the median upper lip cleft using mucosal Z-plasty. This technique provides excellent access to the attenuated orbicular...

Intraoral examination revealed hypodontia of a lateral incisor on the side opposite the scar as well as hyperdontia of lateral inc...
